FAQ · SAFETY & ACCOUNT
How we keep your money safe.
Is my money safe in Pesito?
Yes. Your funds are held in custody at a licensed,
supervised financial institution, and you are the
beneficial owner of your balance. The app uses AES-256-GCM
encryption, rotating session tokens, and Face ID or fingerprint
to unlock. Your ID and CURP data are encrypted before they ever
reach our database.
Is Pesito a bank?
No. Pesito is a technology company (Pesito Technologies,
S.A.P.I. de C.V.), not a credit institution. We don't hold a
banking license, we're not regulated by the CNBV (Comisión
Nacional Bancaria y de Valores), and we don't accept deposits.
That's why it's important to understand where traditional bank
protection does and doesn't apply — we spell it out in detail
in our
Terms of Service.
What happens if Pesito stops operating?
Your funds are not on Pesito's balance sheet
— they're held in custody at licensed financial institutions.
In the extreme case that Pesito stops operating, those funds
still belong to you and would be returned via SPEI or another
mechanism we'd communicate at least 30 days in advance, per
our Terms. IPAB (Mexican deposit insurance) does
not apply because Pesito does not take deposits in
the legal sense that a chartered bank does.
When do you verify my identity?
Without formal verification, you can transact up to
$5,000 MXN per transaction. Above that
threshold, Pesito asks you to verify your INE, passport, or
residence card and take a selfie. Takes about 2 minutes. This
exists to comply with Mexican anti-money-laundering rules —
not a Pesito quirk.
What are my account limits?
Exact per-transaction, daily, monthly, and annual limits depend
on your verification level. You always see
them inside the app, and they increase automatically as you
verify more. Tier 1 (phone only): basic limits. Tier 2 (ID +
selfie): full limits. Tier 3 (proof of address): expanded
limits for larger transactions.
How do I get support?
Email
hello@pesito.la
and we reply within business hours. There's also in-app live
chat once you sign in. If you report a payment sent to the
wrong $PesitoID, we coordinate the reversal with the
counterparty — you don't have to chase anyone down yourself.
